Niko The Kid & MAYLYN Drop Anthemic Single, “Only One”

Niko The Kid has been creating a refreshing concoction of house, tech house and hip-hop tracks since he was 18 years old. He quickly found success working with Akon, Young Thug and Gucci Mane just to name a few. Since then, Niko has produced and written on Odesza’s “Higher Ground”, NBA Youngboy, collaborated with Throttle and has contributed official remixes to artists including Bazzi, Yo Gotti, Miley Cyrus, Tinashe and Parson James. Niko even has original releases on Oliver Helden’s Heldeep records, Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak, Spinnin, Armada, and Medium Rare.

He’s achieved so much thus and shows no signs of slowing down. Today, Niko is teaming up with MAYLYN for their anthemic single “Only One” that feels like a instant timeless hit. Backed by swaying percussion and a rumbling bassline, MAYLYN’s sensational vocals sit on top, lifting this song in wonderful ways.

Here’s what Niko had to say about it:

“Maylyn and I first met up over zoom during the covid lockdown days back in 2020. We wanted to create something haunting and dark.  Initially, we wrote it at a much slower tempo which lent itself to the writing process. I was really inspired by the Freemasons version of Alanis Morissette’s “Uninvited” which had this big beautiful string arrangement. So after recording all the vocals on her end, I locked myself in and started drafting the strings. I think I spent about a week programming the individual violins, violas, cellos, etc. After that, I sped it up and filled it out with drums, bass, and all. This may be my favorite record I’ve done to date.”
