The first taste of the intense, cinematic soundtrack for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege X has been released – listen to ‘You Expected Tranquility’ exclusively on NME below:

To celebrate the ten year anniversary of Rainbow Six: Siege, developers Ubisoft are releasing the major X update. As well as huge improvements to the graphics and performance, alongside a new game mode, Rainbow Six: Siege X will also launch a free-to-play version.

“With X, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Siege begins its next chapter by not only pushing the limits of the game, but by also celebrating its legacy and the gameplay formula that established it as a unique offering in the competitive shooter domain 10 years ago,” reads a press release.

The Rainbow Six: Siege X update goes live on June 10 but to get fans even more excited, developers are set to release the new, eight-track soundtrack tomorrow (June 6).

To give you a taste of what to expect from Henry Jackman’s epic score, you can listen to the track ‘You Expected Tranquility’ exclusively on NME. Check it out below:

“The idea behind ‘You Expected Tranquility’ was to draw out the game’s more heroic qualities,” Jackman told NME. “While Rainbow Six is known for its intense, visceral action and constant tension, this cinematic track aims to spotlight a deeper sense of heroism — it was a joy to allow that melody emerge as fully as possible.”

Jackman previously worked with Hans Zimmer on The Dark Knight, The Da Vinci Code and Pirates Of The Caribbean and also scored Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, Detective Pikachu and Kong: Skull Island. His work on Rainbow Six: Siege X “ leverages the dark, gritty and oftentimes unconventional musical language that defined the sound of Siege, but at the same time updates it and breathes new life into it, bringing new tones, textures, and motifs that are decidedly Siege X,” says a press release. “The new soundtrack delivers tense atmospheres, musical textures that border on sound design, and highly dynamic structures and forms.”

In other news, fans have been given their first proper look at the new James Bond game 007 First Light – and many are convinced Dexter’s Patrick Gibson has taken on the role of the iconic secret agent.
