Yet another Liam Neeson action thriller has topped Netflix UK
Liam Neeson has once again topped the Netflix UK charts, continuing a trend of films from the actor’s back catalogue being popular on the streaming service.
Since 2008’s Taken, Neeson has been known for starring in action-thrillers usually centred around a character out for revenge. While he moves into comedy next month as the star of a reboot of The Naked Gun, the Irish actor’s back catalogue has proven consistently in demand on Netflix.
Last year, the little-known independent thriller In The Land Of Saints And Sinners topped the charts, while 2019 film Cold Pursuit also earned the number one spot in 2023. As of July 8, Neeson’s 2020 effort Honest Thief sees him return to the summit.

The movie sees Neeson play a former bank robber who decides to turn himself in to the FBI, only to be set up by corrupt agents. His co-stars included Terminator 2 legend Robert Patrick and Ironheart star Anthony Ramos. It was not a box office hit, and received mixed reviews from critics, but that doesn’t seem to have deterred fans from seeking it out at home.
While known as one of the biggest names in action movies, Liam Neeson has said last year he may bow out from the genre. He told People: “I’m 72 — it has to stop at some stage. You can’t fool audiences”. He discussed doing his own stunts with the help of collaborator Mark Vanselow, saying: “I don’t want Mark to be fighting my fight scenes for me. Maybe the end of next year. I think that’s it”.
While The Naked Gun may feature more slapstick comedy, the star has three traditional action-thrillers currently in the works: Cold Storage co-starring Joe Keery; Hotel Tehran with Zachary Levi; and The Mongoose co-starring Marisa Tomei.
