Watch My Chemical Romance debut unreleased song ‘War Beneath The Rain’ in Los Angeles

My Chemical Romance have debuted an unreleased song at a recent concert in Los Angeles – check out fan-shot footage of the performance below.

This past weekend (July 26), My Chemical Romance performed at the massive Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles. As part of their ongoing ‘Long Live the Black Parade’ tour, Gerard Way and co. performed two sets; one for ‘The Black Parade’ in full, and another of their other hits.

During the second portion of their set, My Chemical Romance treated audiences to a previously never-before-heard song, titled ‘War Beneath The Rain’. Before diving into the track, Way explained that it was taken from the sessions of a “record we were making that never came out” in 2012, a year before their initial break up.

“This is one of the songs we really love from it,” Way added. The family of late producer Doug McKean – who was working on the scrapped album with My Chemical Romance – were in attendance, prompting Way to dedicate the song to them.

Ahead of My Chemical Romance’s ongoing North American trek, fans became convinced the emo legends – who recently announced a slew of 2026 dates in Asia and a massive concert in Mexico that same year – were teasing new music.

On Instagram, the band uploaded a strange image of a shining object with three circular lights blazing from its top. There’s a timestamp, too, reading ’07:11:25:00′ – the Seattle date of the tour. Then, the caption below reads: “A dagger, a dagger – please fetch me a dagger”. It now appears that the dagger references were to the newly updated lyrics to ‘Mama’.

Earlier this month in San Francisco, MCR performed a surprise cover of the Smashing Pumpkins’ 1995 hit ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’. The cover earned a light-hearted response from Billy Corgan, who shared a series of TikTok memes about the band on their Instagram, specifically about the likeness between Corgan and Gerard Way – who fans frequently joke is his son.

Alongside the post, the band have included the caption: “For any MCR fans who may have come here from the cover of “Bullet With Butterfly Wings”. Yes Billy is equally proud of his sons :)”

Elsewhere, MCR in June released the deluxe 21st anniversary reissue of their classic second album, 2004’s ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’. They’ve also announced new Asia and Mexico concerts for 2026.
