Tory Lanez hospitalised after being shot by prison inmate

Tory Lanez has been hospitalised after being stabbed by a fellow inmate in his Cailfornia prison.

The rapper was sentenced to 10 years in jail in August 2023 for an incident that occurred in July 2020 when Megan Thee Stallion was shot in her feet while leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s house.

Now, TMZ have reported that Lanez has been stabbed by another prisoner at the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi and has been taken to a civilian hospital in Bakersfield.

The incident is said to have happened in the prison yard and his injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening and the motive for the attack is not known at this time.

Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, was found guilty of three felonies related to the shooting in December 2022. Prosecutors on the case were seeking a 13-year sentence, while the maximum sentence he could have received was 22 years and eight months. He is eligible for parole in 2029.

Since then, Megan has successfully obtained a five-year restraining order against Lanez after telling a court that she feared she may be shot again if Lanez were to be released from prison. The restraining order now will be in place until January 2030.

Megan opened up about the incident in her documentary Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, released back in October via Amazon Prime Video. She also issued a “final” response to the incident in which she reflected on the “humiliation” she faced from the public when coming forward with the claims.

In April, Megan’s attorneys requested that a judge hold Lanez in contempt of court due to his behaviour during a deposition related to her lawsuit against the blogger Milagro Cooper.

Lanez continues to make new music, and one recording session in February was disrupted by a prison riot. While laying down some vocals over the phone, a commotion broken out around him, forcing him to abandon the session.
