‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater’ fans annoyed only 10 classic songs will be on ‘3+4’ soundtrack
Activision has confirmed the third wave of artists that will feature on the soundtrack for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 – and fans are upset about the lack of classic anthems.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 features remastered versions of 2001’s Pro Skater 3 and the 2002 follow-up, with both games rebuilt from the ground up. The game will include a number of familiar levels and OG skateboarders but developers have also promised new additions to the iconic series – including the soundtrack.
The first wave of artists for the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 soundtrack was announced back in March, with Turnstile, Run The Jewels and Kendrick Lamar songs confirmed to feature alongside classic tracks from Adolescents, CKY and Motorhead. A second wave was unveiled a few weeks later, confirming the inclusion of 100 Gecs, Fontaines D.C. and Kennyhoopla.
The third and rumoured final wave of music was announced last night (May 8). Idles’ ‘Gift Horse’, AFI’s ‘The Boy Who Destroyed The World’ and Mastadon’s ‘Precious Stones’ were among the 20 new tracks announced for the soundtrack, but fans are annoyed at the lack of original Pro Skater songs.

“If this is the definitive soundtrack, holy shit. They completely botched it,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “I am so disappointed about this. I’m fine with a handful of songs missing, but there’s barely any of the classic songs in here. I know licensing sucks but there are several songs missing that feel ‘essential’,” said another.
As it stands, just six tracks from the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 soundtrack have been included in 3+4, and four from Pro Skater 4 have made the cut.
The classic songs featured on the new Pro Skater 3+4 soundtrack are:
Motorhead – ‘Ace Of Spades’
Del The Funky Homosapien – ‘If You Must’
AFI – ‘The Boy Who Destroyed The World’
Adolescents – ‘Amoeba’
CKY – ‘96 Quite Bitter Beings’
Bodyjar – ‘Not The Same’
The Faction – ‘Skate and Destroy’
Gang Starr – ‘Mass Appeal’
JFA – ‘Beach Blanket Bongout’
Run DMC – ‘My Adidas’
Seven OG artists have also contributed new songs to the soundtracks; KRS-One, Agent Orange, The Cult, De La Soul, Iron Maiden, Sex Pistols and Toy Dolls.
However iconic Pro Skater songs such as The Ramones’ ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’, AC/DC’s ‘TNT’, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘Fight Like A Brave’, Goldfinger’s ‘Spokesman’, ‘System Of A Down’s ‘Shimmy’, Zebrahead’s ‘Check’ and Alien Ant Farm’s ‘Wish’ have all be left off the new soundtrack.
2020’s remastered Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 featured all but three songs from the original soundtracks.
Tony Hawk previously defended the reworked soundtrack following backlash to the changes. “It was my choice to pick some different songs by the same artists featured in ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 OST’,” he wrote on social media. “I’m hoping that discovery is half the fun, and a big reason that these soundtracks resonated in the first place. So listen and enjoy the ride. More to come… both old and new.”
Fans were previously annoyed that OG skater Bam Margera had been cut from the remastered Pro Skater 3+4. According to reports, Tony Hawk later demanded Activision include him in the game and last night, it was announced he’d feature as a secret skater.
Speaking to NME on the red carpet of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Fest at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre last night, Margera said: “I did stop skateboarding for about ten years to do god knows what, but I started skating with Tony down his [vertical half pipe] ramp again recently. My wife is a stretch coach so we stretch together for an hour every day, then I go skate. I have my passion to skateboard again and I’m just so happy to be back on a board.”
In other news, the release date and price of Mafia: The Old Country has been shared alongside a new gameplay video – but fans are worried the latest entry in the long-running series looks more like Uncharted or Red Dead Redemption.
