Tina Knowles Slams ‘Ignorant’ Allegations of Beyoncé ‘Lightening Her Skin’ for ‘Renaissance’ Premiere
Tina Knowles is hitting back at critics of Beyoncé‘s Renaissance Tour film premiere look, specifically those who accused her superstar daughter of trying to change her appearance to look like a “white woman” at the event.
“Came across this today and decided to post it after seeing all of the stupid ignorant self, hating racist statements about her, lightening her skin, and wearing platinum hair wanting to be white,” the 69-year-old businesswoman captioned her Instagram post Tuesday (Nov. 28) featuring a photo of Bey posing at the premiere. “She does a film, called the renaissance, where the whole theme is silver with silver hair, a silver carpet, and suggested silver attire and you bozos decide that she’s trying to be a white woman and is bleaching her skin?”
“How sad is it that some of her own people continue the stupid narrative with hate and jealousy,” continued the Knowles family matriarch. “Duh, she wore silver hair to match her silver dress as a fashion statement clown… Lying and faking and acting like you’re so ignorant that you don’t understand That black women have worn platinum hair since the Etta James days.”
Knowles’ post comes a couple days after Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce debuted in Beverly Hills Sunday (Nov. 26), an event attended by Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Janelle Monáe, Chloe and Halle Bailey and more stars. The “Break My Soul” singer arrived at the premiere in a silver form-fitting dress and opera gloves, matching the color of her gown with bright platinum hair. According to unattributed quotes shared by Knowles in an Instagram video, some onlookers claimed that the 42-year-old musician was “not a Black woman” and looked “so white.”
“I am sick and tired of people attacking her,” Knowles added in her post. “I am sick of you losers. I know that she is going to be pissed at me for doing this, but I am fed up ! This girl minds her own business. She helps people whenever she can. She lifts up & promotes black women and underdogs at all times.”
