Tim Burton reuniting with old collaborator for ‘Wednesday’ season two
Anthony Michael Hall will be collaborating with Tim Burton once again as he joins the cast of Wednesday‘s second season.
Hall’s role has not yet been disclosed, but it marks his first collaboration with Burton since 1990’s Edward Scissorhands.
He is one of numerous additions to the show’s cast, alongside Steve Buscemi as the school’s new principal, Barry Dort, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor. Lady Gaga was also added to the cast, but it is unknown who she will play and how extensively she is involved.
Last week, the first full trailer dropped. In the clip, Wednesday (Ortega) is seen walking through security at an airport when she sets off the alarm, prompting a TSA agent to alert the teen that she must empty her pockets.
She puts her brass knuckles on the conveyor belt before she pulls out a load of weapons including pepper spray, knives, nunchucks, a taser, and a twin-spiked ball flail. Then Thing is also found in her bag, with her sunscreen, which surprisingly set the alarm off in the first place. You can view the trailer below.
Wednesday is then seen returning for her second year at Nevermore Academy, a private school for outcasts. Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) notes her daughter has never wanted to return to school before Wednesday deadpans back: “It’s like returning to the scene of a crime – I already know where the bodies are buried.”
The trailer also shows Wednesday reuniting with her spirited roommate Enid (Emma Myers) and shows glimpses of the rest of the Addams clan, including Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.
Part One of the new season will drop on August 6, before Part Two follows on September 3.
The first season of Wednesday scored a four-star review with Alex Flood writing for NME: “Wednesday ends up a rare spin-off success story. It’s creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky – and an absolute treat.”
