Justin Baldoni’s has dropped his subpoena on Taylor Swift amid his ongoing legal feud with Blake Lively – find out more below.

Earlier this month (May 10), it was revealed that Swift – who is close friends with Blake Lively – had been issued a subpoena by Justin Baldoni’s legal team. The subpoena stemmed from his ongoing feud with Lively, which revolves around accusations of sexual harassment, retaliation and defamation connected to the filming of their film It Ends With Us.

When the motion for the subpoena was first issued, it named Swift as a witness and alleged that the pop star was present for discussions between Lively and Baldoni about a scene at the beginning of the film.

It claimed that Lively invited Baldoni to her New York City residence to talk over possible script changes, and Baldoni was left surprised to see that Swift and Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds were there too. He alleges that Swift and Reynolds approved of Lively’s suggested version of the scene in question, pressuring him into accepting the revisions.

Now, Deadline and Page Six have reported that Swift’s subpoena has been revoked, with sources telling Page Six: “When information is voluntarily received, there is no need for subpoenas.” An official reason for the subpoena being dropped has yet to be shared.

Swift’s legal team responded to the news with a simple “no comment”, while Lively’s representatives said in a statement to Deadline: “We are pleased that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties have withdrawn their harassing subpoenas to Taylor Swift and her law firm. We supported the efforts of Taylor’s team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process.”

“The Baldoni and Wayfarer team have tried to put Taylor Swift, a woman who has been an inspiration for tens of millions across the globe, at the center of this case since day one. Exploiting Taylor Swift’s celebrity was the original plan in Melissa Nathan’s scenario planning document, and it continues to this day. Faced with having to justify themselves in federal court, they folded.”

Prior to the subpoena being dropped, Swift’s legal team spoke out against the filing, describing it as an “abuse of the discovery process”: “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film.”

“This document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case,” Swift’s team added at the time.

The legal battle began last December, when Lively filed a sexual harassment and retaliation complaint with the California Civil Rights Department against Baldoni. In it, she accused him of “inappropriate and unwelcome behaviour” and claimed he was trying to “destroy” her reputation.

Baldoni has denied all accusations and countersued on January 16, including Reynolds and publicist Leslie Sloane in the suit. In the aftermath of Lively’s suit, Baldoni was dropped by his talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME). He also had a women’s solidarity award rescinded.
