‘Superman’s David Corenswet is a big Star Wars gamer
Superman actor David Corenswet has revealed he’s a big Star Wars gamer and grew up playing Battlefront.
Corenswet is set to make his debut as The Man Of Steel in DC’s upcoming Superman movie. Just like his predecessor Henry Cavill, Corenswet has revealed he’s a big gaming fan.
Speaking to IGN, he revealed that he “really loves” the Star Wars video games. “I played Battlefront and Battlefront 2 back in the day on Xbox 360. Jedi Academy was my first computer game when I was 13 or 14. When I have a lot of free time, I’ll sometimes go back and replay that just for old time’s sake,” he explained, before giving a shout-out to Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast.
He went on to say he couldn’t pick a favourite. “It depends what mood you’re in, what phase of life you’re in.” Right now though, the Superman star is playing a lot of Microsoft Flight Simulator. “I love it. That’s where I spend my hours these days.”
Superman is the first film in James Gunn’s rebooted DC universe and is due to hit cinemas July 11. After that, Supergirl will be released June 2026 and there are also plans for a Clayface movie to launch next year. Earlier this month, Gunn claimed the movie industry is “dying” because so many studios are filming projects without a finished script.
“We don’t have the mandate [at DC] to have a certain amount of movies and TV shows every year. So we’re going to put out everything that we think is of the highest quality,” he explained. “We’re obviously going to do some good things and some not-so-good things, but hopefully on average everything will be as high-quality as possible. Nothing goes before there’s a screenplay that I personally am happy with.”
Meanwhile, a fan campaign to get a third Star Wars Battlefront game made has been unsuccessful. As well as confirming that their single-player, open-world Black Panther game had been scrapped, EA Entertainment president Laura Miele recently revealed that the company was only focusing on a handful of key IPs (Battlefield, The Sims, Skate and Apex Legends) going forward, with no mention of Battlefront.
In other news, a remastered version of iconic arcade horror game House Of The Dead 2 is coming to PC and Nintendo Switch later this year.
