Sunmi announces new June single, ‘Balloon in Love’
K-pop singer Sunmi has announced her new single, ‘Balloon in Love’, due out in June.
Yesterday (May 2), Sunmi held livestream celebrating her 32nd birthday, during which she revealed that she will soon be releasing a new song titled ‘Balloon in Love’. The announcement was later confirmed by her agency Abyss Company in a statement to Hankuk Ilbo.
“The new song is composed by Sunmi and features her unique emotional sensibility,” the K-pop agency said, per Hankuk Ilbo, adding that the former Wonder Girls member recently wrapped up filming for the song’s music video in Croatia.

‘Balloon in Love’ will mark Sunmi’s first new music release in eight months, following her October 2023 digital single ‘Stranger’. Prior to that, she had dropped the single ‘Heart Burn’, which was named one of NME’s 25 Best K-pop Songs for 2022.
Before signing with Abyss Company in 2017, Sunmi was signed to JYP Entertainment as a soloist, and a member of girl group Wonder Girls prior. Over her solo career, the singer has released several hits, including ‘Gashina’, ‘Noir’ and ‘You Can’t Sit With Us’.
In other K-pop news, girl group NewJeans have released a music video teaser for their upcoming single ‘Right Now’, which will be a collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The song will appear on their June double single album ‘Supernatural’, which will also mark the act’s Japanese-language debut.
