Stray Kids Make TIME’s List of Next Generation Leaders

Stray Kids have been dominating the music world over the past year and, as a result, the group was honored as one of TIME‘s Next Generation Leaders.

“The goal is to continuously pioneer new [musical] subjects and to have our music be recognized as a ‘Stray Kids’ genre,” Changbin told the publication of the group’s musical ambitions in the corresponding profile story.

The honor comes as a beam of good news after three of the band members — Lee Know, Hyunjin and Seungmin — were involved in a “minor car collision” last month, and were taken to the hospital and “received a thorough medical examination.” Thankfully, according to a translation of the Korean statement provided by JYP Entertainment, “none of the members and accompanying staff in the vehicle were seriously injured.

As a result of the incident, two of the group’s appearances were canceled, including Milan Fashion Week and Seungmin’s Birthday YouTube Live. The band’s performance at Global Citizen Festival on September 23 will featured members Bang Chan, Changbin and HAN performing as 3RACHA instead of the full group.

The band also recently released 5-STAR, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in June. The chart-topping bow marked Stray Kids’ third No. 1 project on the Billboard 200, following MAXIDENT and ODDINARY last year.
