Later, during the State Of Unreal presentation, Fortnite confirmed the Squid Game collab would go live later this month.
Epic Games hasn’t revealed much about the Squid Game team-up but it has confirmed it will make use of Fortnite’s ‘Creative Mode’, so players should be able recreate, design their own challenges. “Build your own twist on the world’s most intense playground,” teased Epic.
A number of unofficial Squid Game maps already exist in Fortnite’s ‘Creative Mode’, including the popular Octo Game 8. The new creator tools are set to go live June 27.

This month will also see the final season of Squid Game hit Netflix. “Picking up where the second season left off, season three explores the choices Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) will make amidst overwhelming despair,” said Netflix alongside an intense teaser trailer. “As the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) plots his next move, the surviving players find their decisions leading to increasingly dire consequences with each round of the deadly games. This season promises to push the limits of suspense and drama, keeping viewers glued to the action”.
Earlier this year, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched a Squid Game collab that included a version of the ‘Red Light, Green Light’ game while various guards could be unlocked as playable characters. However some fans weren’t impressed that several of the rewards were locked behind a paywall.
Elsewhere, some Fortnite players have criticised a “corny” new collab with Kendrick Lamar while others are very excited by the “epic” Sabrina Carpenter dance party that’s currently live in Fortnite Festival.
In other news, it’s been announced that beloved UK horror game Phasmophobia will be getting a movie adaptation.
