Publishing Briefs: Deadmau5 Regains Catalog; Influence Buys Logic’s ‘1-800-273-8255’

Deadmau5 has regained control of back catalog recordings in North America from his former label, Ultra Records. The term of this deal, which includes the classic LPs Random Album Title from 2008, For Lack of a Better Name from 2009, 4×4=12 from 2010 and >album title goes here< from 2012, was always limited. Ultra and deadmau5 remain on good terms.

Influence Media Partners has purchased Logic‘s catalog, including hits like “1-800-273-8255” and “EVERYDAY.” Influence’s deal includes all music released by the rapper from his 2013 mixtape Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever to 2021’s Bobby Tarantino III. Logic has retained his rights to his last two projects, Vinyl Days and College Park.

Anthem Entertainment has extended its publishing deal with multi-platinum songwriter and artist Chris Janson. Janson’s relationship to the top indie publisher began in 2016 and news of the deal quickly follows the release of Janson’s The Outlaw Side of Me, which was released via Big Machine and features Dolly Parton and Slash.

Spirit Music Group has signed Autumn Rowe to a worldwide publishing agreement. The Grammy-nominated songwriter has written with artists like Dua Lipa, Diana Ross, Pitbull, Zendaya, Ava Max, FKA Twigs, Jon Batiste and Leona Lewis, and has appeared on The X Factor and America’s Got Talent, where she acted as the show’s only vocal coach for five years. She also serves on the board at Songwriters of North America (SONA).

Warner Chappell Music and TurnTable Music have signed Jon Robert Hall to a global publishing deal. A versatile singer-songwriter whose work spans TV/film, Broadway, pop and country music. Most recently, he co-wrote Morgan Wallen and HARDY’s “In The Bible.”

Warner Chappell Music and Space Colonel Publishing have jointly signed Beau Bedford to a publishing agreement. A producer, writer, guitarist, and pianist, Bedford marks the first signing for Space Colonel, a management company and publisher founded by Adam Barnes and J.R. Denson. Bedford has written with Orville Peck, Diplo, Tanner Usrey, Zella Day, and Shane Smith & The Saints and has a longstanding creative partnership with Paul Cauthen.
