Nintendo is set to reveal more Switch 2 games next month, according to reports.

Nintendo’s bigger, more powerful Switch 2 console is set to launch next week (June 5). As it stands, the launch line-up only features one brand new game – Mario Kart World.

A number of existing Switch games will also receive special Switch 2 upgrades for free at launch, while fans can pay to upgrade games such as The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and Hogwarts Legacy to take advantage of the new console.

Nintendo has also confirmed Donkey Kong: Bananza will be released for the Switch 2 on July 17 while Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are also due to launch at some point this year.

Now according to a new report from insiders, Nintendo is set to host a new Direct presentation around the Switch 2 launch, on either June 2 or June 9. Adding to the rumours, Nintendo has hosted a June Direct for the past few years. The showcase should include news on more games set to be released in the coming months.

Prime 4 release date with Prime 2 and 3 HD shadowdrops please,” one fan wrote. “I was expecting something like this, they are likely letting the launch day and Mario Kart World speak for itself and breathing room, and then getting deeper into DK Bananza for next month and beyond,” added another. “Probably going to announce the big Q4 release too,” wrote a third, with speculation about a new 3D Mario platformer, The Legend Of Zelda or Animal Crossing. Other fans are hoping for more Nintendo GameCube games to be announced for the Switch 2’s Online Library.

“Need release dates for Metroid Prime 4, Kirby Air Riders (as well as an actual gameplay trailer), Hyrule Warriors 3, and Pokémon Legends Z-A. We also need a few more first party Switch 2 exclusive game announcements. That was my only disappointment in the Switch 2 Direct. First party seemed to be lacking. I think Luigi’s Mansion 4 will probably be the reveal, as we are due for Next Level Games next project to be revealed,” wrote one Reddit user. “This is desperately needed,” said another.

The Switch 2 is expected to become the fastest-selling console of all time when it launches next month. However a number of fans are struggling to pre-order Nintendo’s latest bit of kit while others are flooding eBay with fake listings to stop scalpers selling them for inflated prices.

In other news, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 fans are hoping for a new entry in the franchise after a record-breaking weekend from the 2017 action shooter.
