Nintendo boss teases orchestral tours following success of Music app
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has reportedly teased the possibility of official orchestral tours in the future, following the success of the Nintendo Music app.
In October last year, Nintendo launched an app that lets gamers listen to soundtracks from a number of its iconic games. 23 albums were available via Nintendo Music at launch, including the soundtracks for the original Super Mario Bros., The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and Super Mario Odyssey.
One new soundtrack has been added to the service every week since, with 57 albums currently available. As well as listening to the songs, users can play extended versions of tracks and build their own custom playlists to listen to offline. The service is free for all Nintendo Switch Online subscribers and has been a hit with fans.
Now Nintendo are reportedly looking at following up the success of their dedicated music app with live tours.

Responding to a question from a shareholder at the recent Annual General Meeting, Furukawa reportedly said the app was designed to “help Nintendo reach more people and expand the population that is exposed to it,” (via NintendoSoup). He went on to say he wants people to relive their gaming experiences using the soundtracks and “perhaps return to playing the games that they had enjoyed.”
He then confirmed Nintendo would think about the “feasibility” of orchestral concert tours in the future.
“Nintendo World Symphony tour would be a dream,” one fan wrote on X. “Follow Square’s example. Please do it. Have the composers arrange concert suites. Contract local orchestras. It’s so worth it and literally everyone loves it. There is 0 downside,” said another. “A Super Mario or even a Zelda orchestra would hit so hard,” added a third.
Nintendo previously held a live virtual concert featuring the music of Splatoon last year, while ‘The Legend of Zelda: Symphony Of The Goddesses’ concert tour ran between 2012 and 2017. The recently-released Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart World features more than 200 tracks, including reworked Nintendo classics
In other news, the developers of Resident Evil Requiem have revealed the upcoming horror game was almost an online, open-world title.
