Nick Carter & Aaron Carter’s Controversies Will Be the Subject of Upcoming Docuseries

The controversies surrounding Nick Carter and his late brother, Aaron Carter, will be delved into for an upcoming Investigation Discovery docuseries, and the trailer for the project was released on Wednesday (April 24).

The four-part series, Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter, will explore “the accusations of sexual assault against Nick Carter by three women, while also diving into his brother, Aaron Carter’s, struggles with mental health and substance abuse – and the rift that occurred after Aaron decided to support his brother’s accusers,” per the doc’s description.

The two-minute trailer features interviews with Dream member Melissa Schuman, Ashley Repp and Shay Ruth — all of whom have accused the Backstreet Boys member of sexual assault. Nick strongly denies the accusations and is countersuing both Schuman and Ruth, saying he’s victim of “conspiracy” that aims to “to harass, defame and extort” him by exploiting the #MeToo movement.

In November 2022, Aaron died at age 34 after he drowned in the bathtub at his home in Lancaster, Calif., after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam. His cause of death was deemed accidental. Nick and Aaron had a tumultuous relationship, and the “I Want Candy” singer began to support Schuman on Twitter in 2019, which was highlighted in the trailer.

Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter will premiere across two nights, May 27 and May 28, at 9 p.m. ET on Investigation Discovery, and will also be available to stream on Max. Watch the trailer below.
