Modern Warfare 2 is now in its third season of content, and has added new maps, and weapons since launch. For now, assault rifles and SMGs appear to be dominating, with snipers slowly starting to become viable as well.

There are many returning weapons from previous games, as well as some new ones. Each has been tweaked to match the fast but weighty gameplay showcased in Modern Warfare 2. With so much on offer, you’ll want to be able to check whether or not your favourites have made the cut.

In this guide, you’ll find a full Modern Warfare 2 weapons list that also includes tactical and lethal gear, as well as Field Upgrades. You’ll also find info on the new guns that are releasing as part of Season One.

New Season 3 weapons

There are four new weapons set to arrive in Modern Warfare 2 as part of Season 3. Two of them can be earned for free via the Battle Pass, while the other two will arrive in-season. Here are the new Modern Warfare 2 weapons:

  • FJX Imperium (free with Battle Pass): “Engineered destruction at its finest, this anti-personnel, bolt-action sniper rifle intervenes in tense situations with hard-hitting .408 rounds.”
  • Cronen Squall (free with Battle Pass): “A fully automatic, open-bolt bullpup rifle chambered in 6.8 Wrath dominates midrange combat with a fast rate of fire and high damage output. Switch to semi-automatic for powerful, controlled long-range engagements.”
  • New Pistols (in-season): We’ve yet to receive much info on the new pistols, which will be arriving at some point during Season 3. The first is said to be a ‘highly customisable machine pistol’, while the other is a ‘high-caliber pistol modified for full-auto to blast enemies back when they get too close for comfort’.

That’s all of the weapons and gear you’ll have access to in Modern Warfare 2. For more on the game, be sure to check out our guide on the best Killstreaks to use.

Elsewhere in gaming, the theme song for Nintendo‘s Super Mario Bros. series has become the first gaming score to be entered into the Library Of Congress’ National Recording Registry.
