Miles Kane announces surprise, intimate London show at Moth Club
Miles Kane has announced a surprise intimate London show at Moth Club.
The former Rascals frontman is set to release his new album ‘Sunlight In The Shadows‘, which will be produced by The Black Keys‘ Dan Auerbach. The album will drop October 17 via Auerbach’s own label, Easy Eye Sound.
So far, Kane has released the single ‘Love Is Cruel’, and he will be joining The Black Keys on tour as support later in July.
Now, Kane has announced a special one-off show at Moth Club to take place on July 1. Those who sign up to Kane’s mailing list before 4pm today (June 24) will be able to get tickets, along with those who have pre-ordered ‘Sunlight In The Shadows’ from Kane’s official store here.
It will come ahead of his headline gig at the last ever show at Sheffield’s Leadmill, as the venue was denied an appeal against its eviction notice from Electric Group. The show will take place on June 27 – get any remaining tickets here.
We spoke to Kane last week, where he told us about working with Auerbach on his new record. Kane told us that Auerbach had approached him to produce and sign him, telling us: “It was this opportunity that happened out of nowhere; it wasn’t the plan at all. Even our Jay was like, ‘Man, you’ve got to do this – this is special’. For once in my life, it all fell into place.
“I was still touring that last album until December, then in January I went over to record with Dan and this incredible band that we put together. We recorded the album in five days, we did it all live, and I just felt so comfortable and respected. The result is so good that I’m still pinching myself about it all.”
He added that he was a “proper fanboy” of his work, saying that “me and Dan just hit it off so well. It sounds so fucking cheesy, I know, but the connection was something really special.”
Kane also addressed rumours of a Last Shadow Puppets reunion with Alex Turner. The Arctic Monkeys frontman and Sheffield native has played alongside Kane in the supergroup since its inception in 2007. They last released their album ‘Everything You’ve Come To Expect‘ in 2016, and performed their last show at Rock en Seine that same year.
Speaking to NME, Kane said that while there were “no plans” for a reunion, “my door is always open”.
Meanwhile, we spoke to The Black Keys a few days ago, where they opened up about how their tour cancellation inspired their newest record ‘No Rain, No Flowers’.
Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney were forced to cancel their entire North American tour last year, announcing a more “exciting, intimate experience” was soon to come to the continent. Shortly afterwards, the band parted ways with their management.
Speaking to NME, the band said that following huge shows at the O2 Academy Brixton, the tour “got really mixed around” when their then-manager said they should play Manchester’s Co-op Live. The largest venue in the UK infamously delayed multiple events upon its opening due to its lack of running water – affecting The Black Keys’ tour.
“Basically our whole year got fucked because of the needs of our manager,” they told NME. “When all that shit went tits up and we got absolutely screwed 20+ years into the business, the only thing we had left to do was to go make more music and try to make the best out of it. You have to go and face some hard shit and try to make adjustments to make it work.”
