Loyle Carner set for CBeebies Bedtime Story ahead of Glastonbury 2025 Other Stage headline performance

Loyle Carner will prepare for his Glastonbury Other Stage headline set this week by reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story.

The British-Guyanese rapper is topping the bill on Friday night at the Worthy Farm festival’s second stage, with Charli XCX and The Prodigy taking the same slot on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

But first, on Monday (June 23), Carner will become the latest music figure to make an appearance on CBeebies Bedtime Stories, where he will read I Touched The Sun by Leah Hayes.

“Let’s go!” Carner has said. “I’ve practised for this every night in my son’s room. Reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story is just a magical thing to do. I know this story inside out – it’s my favourite book, and my son’s and my daughter’s. We read it almost every night.”

Carner’s episode will air at 6:50pm on Monday on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer, and it kicks off a week of Glastonbury-themed episodes.

On Tuesday, a story recorded at Glastonbury 2024 will air, read by The Last Dinner Party’s Abigail Morris, while Sampha will follow on Wednesday and The StreetsMike Skinner on Thursday. Further episodes recorded at Worthy Farm this year will follow.

Carner released his fourth album ‘Hopefully!’ on Friday (June 20), featuring contributions from Navy Blue and Nick Hakim. In a four-star review, NME wrote: “His lyrics and instrumentals may be more intricate than before, but they come together more coherently than ever.”

“This isn’t just Loyle Carner at his most refined, it is the start of a new chapter. As for what may come next, the answer is probably best explained in the lyrics to ‘Time To Go’: “Who am I supposed to be today? I don’t know / All I can do is take it slow.””

Carner will be heading on a UK headline tour in November, kicking off with four dates at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. See the full list of dates here and find any remaining tickets here.
