‘Kenia OS: La OG’ to Hit U.S. Movie Theaters & More Uplifting Moments in Latin Music
From career milestones to new music releases to major announcements and those little important moments, Billboard editors highlight uplifting moments in Latin music. Here’s what happened in the Latin music world this week.
A Kenia OS Movie
After the debut of her new film in Mexico, Kenia OS’ Kenia OS: La OG is hitting U.S. movie theaters. Co-directed by Ana Nube, Gastón Etchechoury, and Kenia (real name: Kenia Osuna), produced by Sony Music Vision Mexico, and distributed by Spanglish Movies, the film follows the Latin pop star before, during, and after her sold-out shows at the coveted Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City. Beyond the concert experience, the documentary shows the artist’s tireless and intense preparation, as well as her connection with fans. Kenia OS: La OG premieres on Aug. 29 in Los Angeles, followed by screenings in Miami, New York, and Chicago. For more information, visit here.
The Touring Friendship
Venezuelan artist Danny Ocean has invited his good colleague and compatriot, Elena Rose, to hit the road with him. In a sweet video promo posted on both Instagram accounts, Danny is seen walking with Elena and personally inviting her to go on tour with him during the months of September and October. The “Me Lo Merezco” singer then teases back saying she’ll think about it, before actually accepting the plan. Elena will open six of Danny’s shows in Latin America including his Movistar Arenas in Colombia, Chile, and Argentina.
Bebeshito’s No. 1 Fan
In other concert news, Cuban newcomer Bebeshito surprised a young, loyal fan this week after making history as the first reparto music artist to sell-out the coveted Kaseya Center in Miami. During the concert, a video of a young fan named Emily went viral, where she was seen holding a sign that read “Bebecito te amo” and crying throughout the show. The artist found out about the sweet gesture after his show, and responded with a sweet gesture. In the clip posted below by media outlet La Familia Cubana, July’s Billboard Latin Artist on the Rise is seen visiting the Miami home, and interacting with his fan and her family.
Latin Grammys’ Scholarship Ceremony
This week, the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation awarded the 2025 Warner Music Latina Scholarship to trumpeter Arlen Borrego Miranda during a ceremony at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami that also featured a performance by Venezuelan powerhouse Elena Rose. The Foundation awarded $1.3 million across 49 music students around the world, including Borrego. Launched in 2024—and marking the first time a Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation scholarship has been sponsored by a record label—the four-year Prodigy Scholarship (as its called), covers tuition and room and board, as well as wrap-around services provided by the foundation.
