The California band played to a packed Other Stage crowd bathed in sunshine this afternoon (June 28), their first appearance at Worthy Farm since their debut on the NME Stage in 1995.
With Beabadoobee watching on from the side of stage, Weezer drew singalongs from the crowd from opener ‘Hash Pipe’ onwards, while Brian Bell’s scorching guitar solos had heads rocking.
“Glastonbury, you ready for Weezer time?” frontman Rivers Cuomo said in a rare crowd interaction after ‘My Name Is Jonas’, before introducing the band. “Nice to meet y’all.”
Tracks from the band’s self-titled debut album – commonly referred to as ‘The Blue Album’ – dominated the set, with deep cuts such as ‘Surf Wax America’, ‘Holiday’ and ‘No One Else’ getting an airing, likely owing to the fact that they took the album on a 30th anniversary tour last year.

“Wow, last time we played here it was 1995,” Cuomo later said. “It looks kind of the same! Thanks for having us back guys, maybe we’ll see you again in another 30 years.”
Rattling off 16 tracks in less than an hour, die hard fans were treated to the ‘Pinkerton’-era B-side ‘You Gave Your Love To Me Softly’, while the band closed out the show with big hitters ‘Say It Ain’t So’ and ‘Buddy Holly’.

The 1975 headlined the Pyramid Stage last night (June 27), earning a four-star review from NME, which read: “With their one show of the year, “The 1975 from the Internet” clear the decks on their career so far to deliver a reminder of their chops for tunes and showmanship away from the headlines.”
