After taking over the world with her sixth studio album ‘Brat‘, Charli XCX appears to be shifting towards the world of TV and film.

The pop singer-songwriter, real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison, has a growing amount of acting and producing jobs in the pipeline, ranging from horror remakes, erotic thrillers, and collaborations with famed Japanese directors.

While the majority of these projects are a few years away, some have already started to roll out. The latest is Amazon comedy drama Overcompensating, where Charli XCX serves as an executive producer on the show and its soundtrack. In one episode, she also makes a guest appearance as an exaggerated version of herself.

100 Nights Of Hero

Set to be released in 2025, this American period fantasy film is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Isabel Greenberg. Charli XCX is set to play Rosa, alongside Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Corrin, Maika Monroe, and Richard E. Grant.

Erupcja

Charli XCX filmed this collaboration with director Pete Ohs in Poland at the height of ‘Brat’ summer. Erupcja, which is Polish for “eruption”, is about two women with an explosive relationship, played by Lena Góra and Charli XCX respectively.

Faces Of Death

Directed by Daniel Goldhaber, this upcoming horror is a remake of the 1978 film of the same name. Charli XCX forms part of the lead cast, alongside Barbie Ferreira, Dacre Montgomery, Josie Tatah, and Jermaine Fowler.

I Want Your Sex

Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman are set to lead this upcoming psychosexual erotic thriller, from acclaimed director Gregg Araki (Nowhere, Kaboom). Charli XCX is on the supporting cast, alongside Daveed Diggs, Mason Gooding, Chase Sui Wonders, and Johnny Knoxville.

Sacrifice

Romain Gavras, who has directed music videos for M.I.A., Justice, and Jay-Z, is working on his fourth feature film, Sacrifice. It features an all-star cast, including Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, Salma Hayek, Vincent Cassel, John Malkovich, and Charli XCX.

The Gallerist

The director behind 2020’s Birds Of Prey is helming a thriller about a gallerist who conspires to sell a deceased man at Miami’s Art Basel. Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega lead the film’s cast, with Charli XCX, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Sterling K. Brown.

The Moment

Charli XCX stars and produces in this mockumentary about a pop star, which leads up to her first headlining arena tour. Aidan Zamiri is set to direct the project, which comes from Charli’s new production company, Studio365. Alexander Skarsgård, Rosanna Arquette, Isaac Cole Powell, Kate Berlant, Rish Shah, and Jamie Demetriou are all set to star.

Collaboration with Takashi Miike

As reported by Variety, Charli XCX is set to star in and produce the next film from Japanese director Takashi Miike (Audition). This is the second project from her Studio365 production company.
