Grimes brands Elon Musk’s Twitter/X “a poison, a prison of utterly short form deep deep-sounding nonsense”

Grimes has branded Elon Musk‘s Twitter/X “a poison, a prison of utterly short form deep deep-sounding nonsense”.

The alt-pop musician and former partner of the tech mogul made the comments on the platform itself, telling followers she had “basically been entirely off social media” since mid-June.

Upon her return, Grimes wrote that it was “overwhelmingly, abundantly and profoundly clear” that X/Twitter and social media at large were “a poison, a prison of utterly short form deep deep-sounding nonsense attached to no one that ur brain will discard imaging its learning”.

“The entire thing is a theatre”, she went on to say, branding social media “a shitty pale simulacra of a life.”

She also took the time to shoutout British DJ Sub Focus, and revealed she was “working on some stuff for his record”. “I literally could not be more hyped on Sub Focus,” she said. “Dance music has felt bizarrely sterile and increasingly so over time.”

Grimes has three children with the Twitter/X CEO; four-year-old son, X Æ A-12 Musk, three-year-old daughter, Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus, their son born in 2022. They separated nearly four years ago.

The pair have increasingly been engaged in a public feud. Grimes denounced Nazi-ism and distanced herself from Musk following his controversial Nazi-like gestures at Donald Trump‘s Presidential inauguration.

She also called out Musk on Twitter/X for “ignoring” their child’s “medical crisis” back in February. “I am sorry to do this publicly but it’s no longer acceptable to ignore this situation,” she wrote at the time.

She added that Musk reportedly wouldn’t “respond to texts, call or emails” and “skipped every meeting”. “Our child will suffer life long impairment if he doesn’t respond asap, so I need him to fucking respond and if I have to apply public pressure then I guess that’s where we are at,” she concluded.

Meanwhile, she also previously revealed she “begged” Musk to keep them out of the public eye. The couple’s children have increasingly been in the public eye; in February, Grimes hit out at the tech billionaire for parading Lil X around the Oval Office in the White House as Trump signed an executive order to bolster DOGE’s powers in government.

Elsewhere, Grimes has said she’s “enraged” she can’t shield her daughter from pervasive online “beauty culture”.
