Charli XCX surprised fans with an appearance at an intimate DJ set at Glastonbury alongside her fiancé, The 1975 drummer George Daniel.

As well as headlining the Pyramid Stage with The 1975 on the opening Friday, Daniel played a DJ set with his electronic label and Dirty Hit spin-off DH2 over at San Remo at 1am last night (Saturday June 28). Just hours after her spectacular and bombastic Other Stage headline show, Charli XCX surprised fans by joining Daniel on the decks. The 1975’s Ross MacDonald was also on stage.

The ‘Brat‘ star and the drummer announced their engagement back in 2023. Charli said that her song ‘Talk Talk’ was written about her encounter with Daniel at the 2020 NME Awards, where she nearly followed him into the toilet.

Charli used her high octane Other Stage set to declare that ‘Brat Summer‘ may not be over after all, declaring that “it’s a forever thing”. The show also saw Gracie Abrams present and on-screen to deliver the viral ‘Apple Dance‘.

Earlier in the weekend, The 1975 used their Pyramid headline set to call for their legacy to not be “that of politics”, but “that of love and friendship” – said frontman Matty Healy. Fans also believe that the band may have teased a new song or album at the end of the show when they flashed the word ‘DOGS’ on the screen.

In a four-star review of The 1975’s Glastonbury show, NME concluded: “There are bangers aplenty – the howling ‘Robbers’, the throbbing punk of ‘People’, the devastating grace of ‘I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)’ and the crowd-igniting ‘The Sound’, while some of the more tender moments like ‘Be My Mistake’ feel a little lost. “We’re not going anywhere,” ends Healy. “It’s gonna be alright. I know that’s trite”. With their one show of the year, “The 1975 from the Internet” clear the decks on their career so far to deliver a reminder of their chops for tunes and showmanship away from the headlines.”

Glastonbury concludes today with performances from the likes of The Libertines, Wolf Alice, St Vincent, Girl In Red, legends slot-filler Rod Stewart and headliners Olivia Rodrigo, The Prodigy, and The Maccabees among many more. Check out the full schedule and line-up here.
