Gary Numan announces ‘Telekon’ 45th anniversary UK tour

Gary Numan has announced a UIK tour to celebrate the 45th anniversary of his album ‘Telekon’ – see all the dates below.

The new wave musician and synthpop pioneer released his second solo album in September 1980, going straight in at Number One on the UK Albums Chart. It included the singles ‘We Are Glass’, ‘I Die: You Die’ and ‘This Wreckage’.

To mark the anniversary, Numan has confirmed a string of 15 shows in the UK for this autumn, kicking off in Glasgow’s O2 Academy on November 11. He will play London’s Eventim Apollo on November 21 and finally wrap up the tour on November 30 in Liverpool’s O2 Academy.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday June 20 and you will be able to find yours here.

Numan has written on Instagram: “2025 is the 45th anniversary of the release of my third UK Number 1 album ‘Telekon’. To celebrate I’ll be playing a 15-date UK tour starting November 11th where we will play the entire ‘Telekon’ album (not necessarily in the same order of tracks) plus plenty of other songs.”

“The promoter artwork for the tour says I’ll be playing songs from the album plus my greatest hits,” he added. “That greatest hits part might not be entirely accurate as it’s possible I may play more rarities than hits, but I haven’t decided yet, a mix of both perhaps.”

Gary Numan will play:

NOVEMBER
11 – Glasgow, O2 Academy
12 – Newcastle, O2 City Hall
14 – Leeds, O2 Academy
15 – Birmingham, O2 Academy
16 – Bristol, Beacon

‘Telekon’ followed on quickly from Numan’s breakthrough albums ‘Replicas’ with Tubeway Army and ‘The Pleasure Principle’, both released in 1979, and his chart-topping singles ‘Are Friends Electric?’ and ‘Cars’.

The album marked a darker evolution to his sound, incorporating influences from science fiction and dystopian literature. It has gone on to be cited as a touchstone record for artists such as Trent Reznor, Ministry and The Magnetic Fields.

Before the tour, Numan will also be playing two warm-up gigs in Brighton’s Concorde 2 on June 24 and 25 as he prepares for his first ever performance at Glastonbury, where he will play on the Park Stage on Saturday June 28.
