Eric Nam Talks About His New Album ‘House on a Hill,’ His Tour & More | Billboard News

Eric Nam talks to Billboard about the inspiration behind his new album House on a Hill, the 80-date accompanying tour, directing multiple music videos for the album, his journey to becoming an artist, his mental health and self-care app, Mindset, and more!

Eric Nam:
It’s taken years for us to gain the trust of the artists and also their labels to say it’s OK to talk about these things. Hi, this is Eric Nam, and this is Billboard News.

Tetris Kelly:
Welcome to Billboard News! I’m Tetris Kelly and I get to hang out with my friend Eric Nam today. How’s it going?

Eric Nam:
Everything’s good. How are you?

Tetris Kelly:
I cannot complain.

Tetris Kelly:
Let’s talk about this album, House on a Hill. It’s out now and you co-wrote the entire project. So how did that feel, to be so involved in the creation of this album?

Eric Nam:
You know, I think I’ve always been pretty involved in my album. But this one was particularly involved because not only was it the music and the entire songwriting and production process, but it also extended to the music video … the multiple music videos, the short film, photos, everything. And so you know, and I think, naturally, as an ambitious person, I try to elevate and upgrade every album. So how do we beat the last one? That was kind of like my biggest homework for this project.

Tetris Kelly:
But also, you kind of were a bit of a Beyoncé with this album, I will say. Dropping the visuals with the album, I feel like she set the groundwork for you to be great. So tell me how it was to direct music videos with all the songs that sounds like so much work?
