EMPIRE Names Alexandra Moore as Chief Business Officer

Bay Area-based record label, distributor and publisher EMPIRE has named Alexandra Moore its new chief business officer, the company announced today (June 14). In her new role, Moore will be leading business and revenue-driving initiatives, overseeing content distribution, e-commerce, business development, mergers and acquisitions and the company’s international expansion, which has recently extended to Japan, South Africa and Latin America.

Moore was an executive at Amazon for many years, first as part of the company’s central corporate development team leading investments and acquisitions in digital media and consumer products, then at Amazon Music, where she led the global strategic initiatives and strategy department. As part of that, she oversaw Amazon Music’s concert live streams and digital radio products, as well as merch and international initiatives.

“Alex is a proven leader with strong business and operational acumen ” EMPIRE founder/CEO Ghazi said in a statement. “She has a wealth of relationships in the music, talent and consumer internet industries and beyond and I am confident she will be a key player to amplify our global presence.”

Moore most recently was the founding managing director of Night Capital, an investment company that aimed to acquire consumer-facing companies partnered with top talent, that had picked up $100 million in commitments, including from The Chernin Group. Prior to Amazon, Moore worked at Electronic Arts, Marsh & McLennan and as an investment banker at Citigroup.
