‘Elden Ring Nightreign’ 2 player mode release date is almost here

Elden Ring Nightreign 2 Player Mode Release Date: Nightfarers can be seen fighting a boss.

Elden Ring Nightreign has been out for about two months now and FromSoftware and Bandai Namco are finally adding a long-requested feature that they admitted they overlooked at launch: a 2 player mode.

Here is a full breakdown of the mode and what to expect:

Elden Ring Nightreign’s 2-player mode will be released on July 30, 2025, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The mode will work like the solos option in-game right now. You can simply choose to matchmake with one other player or enter a run with a friend in your party.

The mode will be added with patch 1.02, which will include additional quality-of-life improvements, UI improvements, and more Relic filtering options. Back before launch, speaking to IGN, the game’s director had said they “overlooked and neglected” a 2-player mode option, and they didn’t expect it to be so desired by the community.

But it is great to see it finally added to the game, especially as it hasn’t taken too long for it to be implemented.

Hopefully, this bodes well for FromSoftware’s next release: The Duskbloods, which will be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. This is a PvPvE-style game and marks another big departure for FromSoftware from their genre origins. But Nightreign managed to capture a significant playerbase, so you can expect The Duskbloods to do the same.
