Does Keanu Reeves appear in John Wick spin-off ‘Ballerina’?
Ballerina, the new spin-off film in the John Wick universe is here, but does Keanu Reeves show up in it? Read on for all the info.
Officially titled From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina, the film stars Ana De Armas (Blonde, No Time To Die) in the lead role as Eve Macarro, a ballerina who is training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma as she embarks on a mission to avenge her father’s death.
Gabriel Byrne plays the film’s antagonist, named The Chancellor, while Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane and Norman Reedus co-star. Lance Reddick also makes his final screen appearance in the film. See the trailer below.
Ballerina has been written by Shay Hatten, who contributed to the script of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and wrote the screenplay of John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023). Len Wiseman, known for his work on the Underworld film series as well as the 2012 Total Recall remake, is directing.
In a four-star review of John Wick: Chapter 4, Jesse Hassenger wrote for NME: “Chapter 4 doesn’t exude the wheel-spinning cynicism of a forever franchise. Stahelski may traffic in excess, but at least he understands it: how choreography, performance and style can make over-the-top spectacle cohere into pleasurably overwhelming action fizz, rather than congealing into a sweaty special effects overload. He also gets that after 169 minutes, some degree of closure is appreciated. There may well be a John Wick: Chapter 5, but Chapter 4 still feels like a movie giving its all.”
Does Keanu Reeves appear in John Wick spin-off Ballerina?
Ballerina is the fifth film in the John Wick franchise in total and it is set between the events of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.
While it introduces a new protagonist in the form of Ana De Armas’ Eve Macarro, it does also see a lot of familiar actors reprising their roles from previous films, including Huston, Reddick and McShane.
When the official trailer for Ballerina dropped in September 2024, it was revealed that Reeves would also be appearing in the film. From the promotional materials, it appears that John Wick’s involvement in the narrative will be relatively limited, tying De Armas’ character into the overall continuity of the franchise.
