The footage was caught as the singer and rapper was on her way to the recent 2025 edition of the Met Gala, and seen hiding her outfit from paparazzi. In the clip, she is heard calling for help from her assistants, standing behind a wardrobe screen and shouting.
“I’m ready. No, stop. Give me another umbrella now. And another,” she was heard telling staff. “I need more fucking umbrellas.”
The footage went viral and led to some backlash around her behaviour – with some claiming that it was mistreatment of her assistants. Now though, she has shared a response on social media making light of the situation.

In a TikTok, Doechii is seen filming herself walking backwards and smiling, holding her hands up. Text that is laid over the top of the video reads: “God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas.”
Similarly, she addressed the topic on Instagram Stories, writing a statement saying that she was “so proud” of her team for the Met Gala look.
“All jokes aside I’m so so so proud of my glam team and the LV team for an incredible night,” she wrote. “We’ve been dreaming about this Met for a long time and the theme this year is in such alignment with who I am [and] what I stand for.”
“It’s nothing but God that this year was our debut,” she added. “Everyone killed it. We nailed the theme. And a time was had.”

Elsewhere at the Met Gala, Rihanna turned heads at the event after using her appearance to confirm that she is pregnant with her third child. As well as that, Lorde, who dropped hints about her forthcoming album ‘Virgin’, and Katy Perry had to confirm to fans that she was not in attendance, and the photos of her circulating online were deepfakes.
As for other Doechii news, earlier this year the singer won the coveted Best Rap Album award at the Grammys 2025 with her latest mixtape ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’. She has since shared the singles ‘Nosebleeds’ and ‘Anxiety’, and teamed up with BLACKPINK‘s Jennie on ‘Extral’.
Doechii is set to headline the West Holts stage at Glastonbury 2025 this summer – where she’ll go up against Charli XCX’s bill-topping slot on the Other Stage.
