Cochren & Co Scores Its First Christian Airplay No. 1 as ‘Running Home’ Sprints Across the Finish Line

Cochren & Co. earns its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart as “Running Home” ascends to the top of the list dated June 10.

The single increased by 4% to 6.4 million audience impressions in the week ending June 1, according to Luminate.

“Running Home” was penned by group leader Michael Cochren, Matthew West, and Jeff Pardo, the lattermost of whom also produced it.

It’s the lead single and title track from the act’s second LP, released in February.

“As we were working on our sophomore album, I’d written several songs about where I’ve been in life, but ‘Running Home’ is the story I needed to tell about where I’m going,” Cochren tells Billboard. “I wanted this song to feel like a big, nostalgic, roll-the-windows-down anthem, and when we recorded it, we didn’t hold anything back. I’m truly blown away by the love and support around ‘Running Home’ and I’m so grateful to receive my first No. 1 with a message and sound that’s so genuine to who I am.”

Cochren & Co., which comprises Michael Cochren and his wife, Leah, leads in its 11th visit to Christian Airplay. Its first entry, “Church (Take Me Back),” reached No. 9 in May 2019, becoming the outfit’s first of four top 10s.

Cochren & Co. is on tour with format cornerstone tobyMac on his Hits Deep Tour, which also includes Crowder and Tasha Layton. Cochren & Co. will perform for the first time at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House June 13.
