A techno party in Amsterdam has broken the Guinness World Record title for the world’s largest laser show.
The record was set by Verknipt over the weekend (Saturday July 19) at its final event at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Held in front of a 40,000-strong crowd, the show took place just before midnight and saw a “specially choreographed”, 10-minute light show that used 1,100 lasers.
It has been confirmed as the largest laser display to date and has set a new Guinness World Record.
With the title, it has surpassed the record set by the Dubai Racing Club in 2021, when the closing ceremony of the Dubai World Cup included a light show using 824 lasers.
Also featured at the Verknipt show was a 360-degree stage design, along with a rotating DJ-booth, custom-programmed laser rigging, and DJ sets from Basswell, Onlynumbers, Cloudy, NOVAH, Cynthia Spiering, Paul Elstak, DYEN and more.
“We didn’t just break a world record, we’ve written history,” said the Verknipt team. “The energy in the ArenA was indescribable during the special 10-minute Verknipt Experience show: happiness, excitement, but also deep emotion as we closed this final chapter.
“This wasn’t just a show, it was a shared moment of connection we’ll carry with us forever.”
Taking to Instagram to celebrate the Guinness World Record win, the event organisers shared a handful of photos and videos from the night.
“WE’RE OFFICIAL WORLD RECORD BREAKERS,” they wrote in the caption. “We set the tone and quite literally wrote history. Verknipt now officially holds the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the World’s Largest Laser Show!”
They went on to describe the Verknipt ArenA Experience Show as “an edition to remember” and also thanked “everyone who made this madness possible: our unstoppable crew who brought our wildest ideas to life, the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS jury, and of course, all the artists & ravers who backed us on this journey.”
“We’re not going anywhere,” they concluded. “This is just the beginning.”
