Charli XCX has shared footage from her wedding day, which sees her joke about leaving George Daniel at the altar if he didn’t cry.

The couple tied the knot over the weekend, and were photographed standing outside Hackney Town Hall on Saturday (July 19). In the photos, the ‘Brat’ singer was seen clutching a white bouquet of flowers, as she and The 1975 drummer were surrounded by friends and family.

Little is known about their ceremony, although outlets such as The Mirror have reported there were only about 20 people invited to the intimate event. It also suggested that the wedding took place days after Daniel flew back from his stag-do with his bandmates in Ibiza.

Now, Charli XCX has shared a video she took on the day of the wedding, showing her in a wedding dress before she walked down the aisle.

Posted on TikTok, she walked into a room wearing a short satin gown and a matching veil, along with some ‘Brat’-inspired sunglasses. She struts into the room, poses in front of the camera, before dramatically walking away.

She shared the clip with the message “When George isn’t crying when he sees me walking down the aisle” written over the top – jokingly insinuating that she would have left him at the altar if he didn’t get emotional at the sight of her.

In the caption, she confirmed that he did cry at the sight of her in her bridal gown, simply writing: “Luckily he did”. Check it out above, along with another post that shows her, Daniel, and other attendees celebrating the day below.

The couple first got to know one another in 2021, when they teamed up to record the track ‘Spinning’. They later went on to confirm their romance on social media in 2022, and announced their engagement in November 2023.

In 2024, the ‘360’ singer also revealed that the ‘Brat’ song ‘Talk Talk was written about an encounter with Daniel at the 2020 NME Awards. “’Talk Talk’ is about a very specific moment where me and my fiancé – we were not together, but we were definitely very into each other,” she shared.

“We were at the NME Awards, we were both sat on different tables, and we were texting each other, but we weren’t hanging out. But we were both looking over at each other – it was very like, one of us would look and the other one would look away, and then just vice versa.”

She continued: “In the song, I say, ‘I followed you to the bathroom and I felt crazy’. I did actually do that! I saw that he went to the bathroom, so I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll go to the bathroom and maybe we’ll bump into each other and then we won’t be like texting all the time’… But then I got halfway there and I was like, this is insane, and then I went and sat down again.”

At that event, The 1975 picked up the Band Of The Decade Award, as well as Best British Band and the NME Innovation Award. Charli was nominated for Best Solo Act In The World, Best British Solo Act and Best Collaboration at the awards.

She also presented the Songwriter Of The Decade Award to Robyn that night, alongside Christine And The Queens.
