Britney Spears ‘The Woman In Me’ Memoir Audiobook to Be Narrated By Actress Michelle Williams

Five-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams will narrate Britney Spears‘ upcoming tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me. The singer revealed the news to People magazine in a statement on Friday (Oct. 13), noting that she will read the introduction to the audiobook version, but that Williams will read the rest of the book due out on Oct. 24.

“This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it,” Spears told the magazine in a statement. “Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook. I am so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest of it.”

In revealing her first turn as an audiobook narrator, Williams — who like Spears has been in the public eye as a performer since her early teens — said in a statement, “I stand with Britney.”

The book announced in July — more than a year after Spears was released from a restrictive 13-year conservatorship — promises to reveal “for the first time her incredible journey — and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history.”

In a video tease after the announcement, Spears said, “My book is coming out very, very soon. I worked my ass off for this book. I had a lot of therapy to get this book done, so you guys better like it. If you don’t like it, that’s fine too.” The audiobook version of The Woman in Me will be published simultaneously with the other editions of the book.

In addition to the book, Spears will be back on the big screen for a fan event re-release of her 2002 coming-of-age road-trip dramedy Crossroads, which will hit screens across the world on Oct. 23 and 25.
