‘Black Myth: Wukong’ confirms Xbox release
It’s finally been confirmed when Black Myth: Wukong will be available for Xbox players.
The hit game was originally released for PC and PlayStation last August. It was also supposed to launch on Xbox but that version was delayed indefinitely.
Now Microsoft have confirmed that Black Myth: Wukong will be available from August 20, with pre-orders going live later this month.
“Since last August, countless Destined Ones have ventured through the vast wonders of the Journey To The West universe—experiencing its stories, exploring its levels, and enjoying its trials,” wrote developers Game Science. “Today, we are pleased to announce that Black Myth: Wukong will officially launch on Xbox Series X|S on August 20, 2025.”

Developers Game Science originally claimed the reason for the delay was down to the team “optimising” the Xbox version in order to “to meet our quality standards.” One dev went on to say that the Xbox Series S’ 10GB of shared memory “without years of optimisation experience, is really hard to make work.”
However Microsoft went on to imply the lack of Xbox release was due to an exclusivity agreement between Sony and Game Science. They said the delay is “not due to Xbox platform limitations that have been raised to us.”
“We’re excited for the launch of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms,” the statement continued. “We’d prefer not to comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders”.
“Black Myth: Wukong is coming to Xbox consoles exactly one year after it launched on PlayStation and PC. “Interesting timing,” wrote one fan. “They managed to ‘optimize’ it in exactly a year.”
Elsewhere, Microsoft has confirmed 14 new games will be hitting Xbox Game Pass this month.
In other news, fans have been given their first proper look at the new James Bond game 007 First Light – and many are convinced Dexter’s Patrick Gibson is now playing the iconic secret agent.
