Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy cancels comeback tour due to “recent health issues”
Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy has cancelled his comeback tour, citing “recent health issues”.
The singer-songwriter and vocalist in the post-punk band had been set to hit the road this year in support of his new solo album, ‘Silver Shade’ – his first since 2014’s ‘Lion’.
Festival dates had been lined up throughout the UK and Europe between June and August, per Billboard.
“It is with regret that, due to recent health issues, I will be unable to perform for you this summer,” Murphy wrote in a statement on social media this week.
“I am very much saddened by this news. This situation is hopefully temporary, and we will be able to announce shows in support of ‘Silver Shade’ at some point in the near future.”

Murphy, 67, suffered a heart attack in the midst of a solo New York residency in 2019, resulting in some dates being postponed. In 2022, Bauhaus cancelled their North American tour, and announced that Murphy would be entering rehab. A statement from the band at the time cited the vocalist’s “health and well-being”.
Then, in 2023, Murphy postponed his David Bowie tribute tour following an “unexpected medical procedure”. He subsequently quit the run of dates “due to ill health and doctor’s orders to rest and recover”. Late last year, the 2025 UK and European leg of the same tour was cancelled after Murphy was “suddenly taken ill”.
Murphy last performed a solo show in early 2020, when he played his rescheduled NYC concerts (via Setlist.FM).
Earlier this year, the Bauhaus frontman teamed up with Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor on the single ‘Swoon’, after collaborating with Boy George on the track ‘Let The Flowers Grow’. Both songs appear on Murphy’s new record ‘Silver Shade’.
Bauhaus’ 2022 tour included a London show at Brixton Academy, and followed a run of 2018 UK dates where Murphy and David J celebrated the band’s 40th anniversary.
