Angel Sandoval Signs With Kobalt for Publishing

Up-and-coming Mexican singer/songwriter Angel Sandoval has signed a multi-year global publishing agreement with Kobalt. This will be the first publishing agreement for the 23-year-old artist, who earlier this year, won his first SESAC Latin Music award for “Si Ya Hiciste el Mal,” which was recorded by Luis R. Conriquez and Jessi Uribe.

Under his new agreement, Kobalt will administer Sandoval’s current and future catalog. To date, he’s been releasing under his own Rolitas Exóticas Publishing.

Sandoval has written for multiple acts. Tracks include “Y ahora,” recorded by Grupo Firme and Tekashi 6ix9ine; “Como El Viento,” recorded by Luis R. Conriquez and Nicky Jam; “Cansados de Sufrir,” recoded by Grupo Frontera; and “Esto Se Va a descontrolar” by Banda MS. Although much of his work to date has been with regional Mexican acts, he is also foraying into urban and pop music, with multiple collabs already lined up in the coming months.

Sandoval began composing as part of his own group, but in the past few years has been more devoted to writing for others, with initial votes of confidence from Conríquez and Banda MS.

Last November, Sandoval’s “Si ya hiciste el mal,” which he co-wrote with Omar Jaffet, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s regional Mexican airplay chart (dated Nov. 19). The track stood out because it featured a Colombian artist, Jessi Uribe, on a Mexican music chart, and it was also Uribe’s first No. 1 on the chart.

Sandoval has also continued to work on his own material and has plans to record and release his own music next year.

He is represented by his mother, veteran music industry publicist and marketer Nadia Sandoval.
