‘Andor’ has just released one of the highest-rated TV episodes of all time

Diego Luna as Cassian Andor in 'Andor' season two

Star Wars spinoff show Andor has just released one of the highest rated television episodes of all time.

The second season of the Star Wars prequel series is currently going out on Disney+, overseen by Tony Gilroy, and episodes 7-9 debuted on Tuesday night (May 6).

The series serves as a prequel to Rogue One, which in turn was a prequel to the original 1977 film, and it follows Cassian Andor’s (Diego Luna) path from common thief to a key revolutionary in the Rebel Alliance.

It is episode eight, Who Are You?, in particular that has got the internet buzzing. It centres on the Ghorman massacre, a pivotal event in the timeline of the Empire’s ruthless reign, depicting the suppression of a rebellion in a breathtaking 40-minute sequence.

According to IMDB, the episode currently sits on a 9.9 out of 10 rating, which places it in the top 20 highest rated television episodes of all time, in among Game Of ThronesThe Rains Of Castamere, Succession’s Connor’s Wedding and Breaking Bad’s Ozymandias.

One X user described Who Are You? as “not only the best episode of Star Wars television – it’s one of the best episodes of TV I’ve ever seen”. See some reactions to episode eight below.

NME awarded the second season a full five stars, writing: “Does it cover a bit too much ground? Maybe. Does it dip a bit in the middle? Perhaps. Is Forest Whitaker having a bit too much fun chewing the scenery as brash rebel leader Saw Gerrera? Definitely. But Andor season 2 wears a level of polish that nothing else in the galaxy comes close to matching. Confident, mature and exciting from the off, the last four or five episodes hit the same highs as Rogue One – enriching the bigger story arc instead of ever just feeling like an add-on.”
