Titled Chappelle’s Home Team — Luenell: Town Business, the special is the latest in a series of stand-alone comedy specials executive produced by Dave Chappelle. Each special features comedians chosen and spotlighted by Chappelle himself. The Chappelle’s Home Team series launched on Feb. 28, 2022, with a special from Earthquake, a comedian hailing from Washington, D.C.

A synopsis for the new special promises that Luenell will expose “all of the absurdities of air travel, the importance of keeping the window shade up, and why she has appointed herself the unofficial air marshal of the skies.”

In addition to Chapelle, Rikki Hughes and Stan Lathan will also executive produce Chappelle’s Home Team Luenell: Town Business. Lathan, an Emmy and Grammy winner, will direct the special, which was shot at Yoshi’s in Oakland, Calif.

Luenell launched her career in 1993, and she has since collected a bevy of credits across film and television, including Borat (2006), The Boondocks (2010), Think Like a Man (2012), A Star Is Born (2018), Dolemite Is My Name (2019), Power Book II: Ghost (2020), Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! (2021) and the Emmy-winning Max dramedy Hacks (2021-22).

Chappelle’s Home Team — Luenell: Town Business is the latest development in a major year for Chappelle. At the top of the year (Feb. 5), he won his fourth Grammy for best comedy album for The Closer. This summer (Aug. 12), the Emmy winner earned his first Billboard Hot 100 entry with “Parasail” (No. 53), a deep cut from Travis Scott’s Billboard 200-topping Utopia album.
