Before her special performance celebrating “A Summer of Don Julio” in Miami, Mexican artist Camila Fernández spoke with Billboard to share her pre-show routine, revealing everything from her glamour and mariachi wardrobe secrets to her favorite Don Julio cocktail.

Camila Fernández:

Hey friends, I’m Camila Fernández! Here I am with my friends Don Julio and Billboard to share everything I do in my pre-show routine. What’s my pre-show ritual? Since I have curly hair, I’m my own hairstylist and makeup artist. I always start by straightening my hair, then I warm up my voice and finally-finally, I pray, thanking God and asking my grandpa Vicente [Fernández] to send me good vibes so I can go out there and crush it. I warm up with vocal exercises, too. A little tequila always opens up your voice! Tequila is very important to me and for what it represents in Mexican culture is our pride. How amazing that every corner of the planet has a bottle of tequila amd how perfect that it’s Don Julio, from Jalisco… just like me! My favorite Don Julio to toast with before hitting the  stage? Obviously the Reposado. It’s got that rich, aged, beautiful essence. I love pairing Don Julio tequila with lime and salt. Simple, traditional, totally Jalisco-style. What can I share about tonight’s outfit? Of course, it’s a charra suit! These are my botonadura. I do this with all my heart. Thanks to Las Rayas, my designers from Jalisco who also made the suits and bows for my grandpa, Vicente [Fernández]. This represents my family, my lineage, where I come from. A charra suit trick that I love when designing mine… I make the skirt a little shorter- this escaramuza cut is for riding.

Keep watching for more!
