‘The Last Of Us’ fans are having to avoid spoilers after final season two episode leaks
Spoilers for The Last Of Us season two ahead!
The finale of The Last Of Us season two has leaked online, with fans having to put in extra work to avoid spoilers.
Episode seven of the show was made available early to people who bought the season pass for the show through Apple, according to reports from ComicBook.com. While the episode was promptly removed ahead of the intended May 25 broadcast date, clips and footage have circulated on social media.
An adaptation of the video game The Last Of Us Part II, this second season follows Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) settling into live in Wyoming five years after the events of the first season. The two have become distant since beginning their new life, with Joel haunted by what he had to do to save Ellie.
While the show has followed the events of the game relatively closely, those unfamiliar with the source material were shocked when episode two concluded with the death of Joel. The loss of a beloved character led many to say they would no longer be watching, but subsequent episodes have been highly praised for their emotional impact.
Those who are sticking around now have to wait until Sunday (May 25), and online discourse around the leak has remained understandably quiet. One user on X (formerly Twitter), however, complained: “The Last Of Us 2 CURSED to leak no matter the adaptation”, referring to 2020 reports that the game the season is based on was also leaked.

Elsewhere, the loss of Joel has been felt by fans, who reacted emotionally to a change in the opening credits of the show following his death. In April, it was revealed Kaitlyn Dever, who plays a pivotal role in episode two, was mourning her mother’s passing when filming her part on the show.
