A new version of ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ by Taylor Swift has premiered on the latest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale.

In the opening of season six, episode nine, June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) leads an uprising against the Commanders. The moment is set to Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)’, a re-recording of the single from the Grammy nominated 2017 album ‘Reputation’.

Since 2020, Swift has been re-recording her first six albums following a dispute with previous label, Big Machine Records, and its owner Scooter Braun. The new releases, produced in order to give Swift control over her masters, are given the addition “(Taylor’s Version)”. ‘Reputation’ is the sixth and final album of Swift’s time with Big Machine Records.

Speaking about the use of the track, star and executive producer of the show, Elisabeth Moss, told Billboard: “I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I’m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment”.

She continued: “Taylor has been such an inspiration to me personally. As a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for (co-star) Yvonne (Strahovski) and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties, it’s such an honour to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show”.

“I said to my editor, Wendy, ‘I really want to find a place for a Taylor track in the last 2 episodes of the show’ and we wanted to find a music queue for the opening of 9, and all the credit goes to Wendy for picking this track for this moment!”

The latest season of The Handmaid’s Tale will be the last, debuting on April 8 and concluding with the tenth episode, which airs May 27.

Recently, last week (May 14) the legal team for Taylor Swift has called for the subpoena from Justin Baldoni to be thrown out of his lawsuit with former co-star Blake Lively. Elsewhere, the US Musicians Union released a response to President Donald Trump’s criticism of Swift and Bruce Springsteen, both of whom have spoken against the politician.
