Leeds DJ and producer Nick Hannam has died, according to new reports

In a statement posted to Certified Jackin‘s Facebook on April 29, the music platform hailed Hannam as “a true Leeds talent” and “one of the pioneers who helped shape UK Jackin’, House & Bass”.

“Nick didn’t just make tracks – he made memories,” the statement continued. “His music soundtracked countless nights out, countless moments, and left a mark on a whole generation of ravers.”

“From Leeds to the world, Nick Hannam’s legacy will live on in every speaker, every dancefloor and every heart he touched through his music. Rest easy Nick. You’ll never be forgotten.”

No age or cause of death was given.

Certified Jackin called Hannam’s music “infectious and unmistakeable” that “blended pure northern energy with groove-heavy basslines and crisp, catchy vocals. That original “Jackin” sound”. They added that his early work was a “huge part of the original Certified Jackin channel, inspiring a new wave of producers and DJs up and down the country.”

Amongst others, Tom Zanetti paid tribute to Hannam in a lengthy social media post, calling him an “angel”.

“I’m heartbroken to announce the man who helped me build the song ‘You Want Me’ brick by brick in a little bedroom studio in Leeds, a song you all know and love which is randomly going super viral at the moment – Nick Hannam has passed away,” he wrote.

Responsible for underground hits such as ‘Serious’, ‘Love You Girl’ and ‘I Like To F*ck’, Hannam would break into the mainstream charts by co-producing Tom Zanetti’s ‘You Want Me’. Peaking at Number 22 in the UK Top 40 and Number 7 on the dance charts, the song would go on to achieve Platinum.
