4 Older Songs That Found New Success on the Billboard Charts Thanks to TikTok | Billboard News

Here are four songs that have been surging in popularity on our Billboard charts due to their success on TikTok.

Are you obsessed with the Tok? Well, I am and here are some songs recharting because of TikTok

Jason Lipshutz:

Miguel’s ‘Sure Thing’ was a pretty big hit back in the early 2010s when it was originally released but then in 2023. It has completely exploded thanks to TikTok. People have rediscovered the song, which originally peaked at No. 36 on the Hot 100 a little over a decade ago. And now in 2023, it is all the way up to No. 14 on the Hot 100. Lady Gaga’s song Bloody Mary was originally released in 2011, but in 2022, it was revived on TikTok thanks to “Wednesday,” the hit Netflix series. TikTok users mashed up ‘Bloody Mary’ with a dance sequence in “Wednesday” and ‘Bloody Mary’ went all the way up to No. 41 on the Hot 100 chart.

Jason Lipshutz:

The Weeknd’s song ‘Die for You’ was originally released in 2016 on his album ‘Starboy.’ ‘Die for You’ was an enormous hit on TikTok, and kept kind of creeping up the Hot 100.

Jason Lipshutz:

Once it hit the top 10, it not only received a huge amount of pop radio airplay and streams, but also an assist from Ariana Grande, who hopped on a ‘Die for You’ remix and sent the song to No. 1 on the Hot 100. Tyler, the Creator’s song ‘See You Again’ featuring Kali Uchis was originally released in 2017 on his album ‘Flower Boy.’ ‘See You Again’ really started taking off on TikTok in 2023. And then, Tyler joined Kali onstage at Coachella in April 2023 to give that revived song a little extra juice. It had never hit the Hot 100 before this year, but then in 2023 went all the way up to No. 44 on the Hot 100. It was a pretty cool moment for a song that is over a half decade old at this point.
